Our 4 adult and 5 children party (eldest 8, youngest 2) had a fantastic 10 night stay at the Villa Malee from 7 April 2008. The villa is new, spacious and cool (aircon works perfectly). May and Baa keep the villa very clean, the fridge well stocked and are very accommodating. For shopping including food orders, May will keep a fully itemised list for payment, which we would pay every few days. Just after breakfast, we would discuss with May what we would like for dinner (she even provides a Thai cook book for you to make your selection) . Invariably, we asked for something simple for the children, who would sit down to eat at 6.30pm after a bath. They would then retire to watch a dvd in the living room, so you can still keep an eye on them or you could put them to bed if you can get them down !! The adults would then dine at 8pm tucking into restaurant standard Thai banquet cooked before your very eyes. Pure luxury. Really no need to eat elsewhere unless you just fancy a change.


Squid, prawns, whole fish, lobster, Tom Yam soup. Very fresh, expertly cooked....

Living room, kitchen and dining area open out onto great pool, with overhead fans, with a nice view. We loved it.

Kata Town is about 20 minutes walk away, left out of the Villa (be careful of the dog ! ) to main road. Turn right, over very busy road, first left down windy road. Walk not great for young kids but OK. We walked down first day as you do, and got a tuk tuk back (ask May how much you should pay) and if the driver's friendly, take his mobile number and call him when you need to go anywhere. One of the bigger tuk tuks could take us all at a push.

We took a tuk tuk return about 15 to 20 minutes south to Nai Harn. Really nice and relatively undeveloped. A bit of surf, so watch the undertow for the kids but at the south end of the beach a small lagoon is created by the tide which is just perfect of the kids.

On reflection, renting the car is good value. We could fit everyone in and we could explore in our own time, in aircon comfort.

Shopping - the usual value for tailored suits, t-shirts, specs, dvds. We got our suits (ladies and mens) from Tex World at 185 Khoktanod Road (down windy road to main hub/crossroads - continue own 20 meters on your left; bargain hard !). Patong very good for shopping but try not to spend too much time there unless you are in to that sort of thing ! Dental treatment also of a very high standard.

We also had a fantastic speedboat day trip to Railay Beach, Krabi and went to ride the elephants at a place en route to Nai Harn beach. Kids had a great time.

We all now fortysomething backpackers with kids, who can now afford the finer things in life. We have realistic expectations of Phuket, we knew it would be commercial and developed but just had the best time. The Villa (and May and Baa) more than exceeded our expectations. May and Baa will also babysit if you need to quiet time but please give them a night off if you can.

We booked out both Villas and celebrated two birthdays during our stay. We also had guests coming from as far a field as the UK, Western Australia and Hong Kong, all arriving at different times. We thought the logistics for arranging this would be a monumental task but the team in Kata handled it perfectly. They were patient, polite and as attentive as you could hope for. And as everyone says, the food truly is fantastic. Don't bother going out. Trust me on this one.
They are a fantastic pair of properties. We ended up with an adult pool and a kids pool, with aunts and uncles press-ganged in to entertaining nieces whilst the parents relaxed over a couple of cold Singha. We ate all together in Jasmine every night with a couple of old collapsible tables added on either end for lunch and dinner. I have a couple of awesome photos I should send over - seated dining, family style, for 16 people. Brilliant.
The trips to the beach were also fun. Tuk-tuks were easy to get back, although perhaps you could also draw a simple map for people.. That way, they can negotiate their own way to and from the beach if they choose to walk..

My group and I had a great time in the Villa. May was excellent. I had planned to celebrate my 3 year anniversary with my girlfriend and May took care of things and it was a wonderful night. She booked all our cab service and the Boathouse restaurant. And the food she had prepared is better than some restaurants!

Well, what a lovely touch of paradise you have there in Phuket!!!!!!!!! And what lovely, lovely staff. Where on earth did you find such gems?? From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty. It is a credit to you and your staff. Boy I'd like to sell my house and move to Phuket myself. Can I ask will you ever move there or are the villas investments? We have been to Phuket 4 times over the past 15 years and always stayed in hotels. No more.. Khun May cooked up fabulous meals and canoeing was organised with no problems whatsoever. Thank you so much for a lovely stay. I will be recommending to anyone who travels to Phuket to stay at your villa.

I have been meaning to let you know we had a fabulous time. I have been trying to come up with some constructive suggestions, but I'm afraid I can't think of much.
Your staff, especially May, were wonderful.
The villa 'book' has lots of useful information about the running of the house, and there are lots of useful pamphlets left from previous guests. Would it be possible to create a local guide with advice for example, about where the best shopping is, the best boat trips, the best elephant safari etc.
May was wonderful at booking things for us, but clearly didn't want to tell us that one thing was better than another
Anyway, many thanks for your assistance, and we look forward to coming again soon!
