The local town of Santa Maria is a pleasant 20 minute walk away where you will be captivated by the blend of African, Brazilian and Portuguese cultures in this charming small cobbled street town which has many local shops and bars.

There are also numerous restaurants specializing in Cape Verdian cuisine, Italian, Grill and Fish dishes.

Simply watch the fishermen bring in their daily catch on the beach, stroll around the many craft shops where you can buy
anything from African hand made jewellery to beautiful hand paintings or just enjoy a cold beer just watching the day go by.

What ever you chose to do in Santa Maria, you will enjoy its truly local charm coupled with its lovely fascinating people.

If you are feeling more energetic, you can enjoy surfing, wind surfing, kite surfing, scuba diving and snorkelling all of which have local tuition. Other activities include deep sea fishing, sailing and quad biking.
If you want to spend a few hours away from the beach or pool, you can visit the salt lakes at Pedra De Lume or pay a visit to the main town of Espargos.
