Property Description Bookmark and Share

The Addeyhouse is a light and airy bungalow set among mature trees and farmland. Large windows capture the stunning view and from the upstairs sitting room you can watch the sun set behind Mt Gabriel. The kitchen and dining room are open plan with access to a sun-trap patio. For cooking, the kitchen has a gas hob with electric oven and a microwave. The main lounge has leather sofas and a wood-burning stove. There are three bedrooms; two doubles (one of which can be a twin) and a kids' room with single and bunk beds. There is a shower room and bathroom. In the lean-to are a washing machine, dryer and freezer. Parking is limited and is either on the grass beside the house or in a pull-in by the gate, depending on weather and preference (we really do try to put nature first). There is hi-fi and wifi but no TV.

The muddy cove of Rossbrin - a ten minute walk away - is a paradise for wading birds, while the rocky shoreline surrounding our 'private' beach is full of well-stocked rock pools.

Area Description

Rossbrin lies on the coast between the lovely villages of Schull and Ballydehob. The coastal scenery is superb, with the aptly named Roaring Water Bay and its many islands providing a feast for the senses. Huge skies, often filled with dramatic cloud formations (and more than our fair share of sun), stretch from horizon to horizon and make a perfect backdrop for the greens and blues of the seascape. The villages, themselves, are distinctly different. Schull is the more up-beat tourist town and a very busy place at the height of summer. Ballydehob is far quieter but, every Friday night, it plays host to one of the finest traditional music sessions around. Shopping is best done in Schull, but Ballydehob excels with fine health food and gourmet stores, as well as the only petrol station in the area. The house lies at the end of the road, so there is no passing traffic. The sea is a short walk across the fields and a small, sheltered beach provides a great swimming and sunning spot.
