Property Description

Villa Christina is located in Amaliapolis, just south of Volos in the region of Magnesia, Thessaly. The acommodation offered for holiday rental is on the two upper floors of this EOT approved self-catering Greek villa. On the first floor you will find an 84m2 fully air-conditioned apartment with 2 twin bedrooms, open plan living room with well equipped kitchen, bathroom and additional WC. On the upper floor are 2 42m2 apartments each with an air-conditioned twin bedroom, living room with cooking facilities and bathroom. Each living room has a sofabed for 2 people and is cooled by a ceiling fan. All around this holiday home in Amaliapolis are balconies with sun or shade and wonderful views of the Greek olive groves and the sea (the Pagasitic Gulf) in the distance. The shady garden is enclosed and has a barbecue area as well as swings and a slide for children.

Amaliapolis can be reached from either Athens or Thessaloniki airports, and there are seasonal flights to nearby Volos airport also with Ryanair, Air Berlin and Monarch (only 23km from the villa). We can arrange for a taxi to meet you at Volos airport and take you to the villa if you do not wan to hire a car. The villa's location makes it an ideal base for exploring mainland Greece.

Area Description

In the centre of Amaliapolis village you will find a choice of cafes/bars and tavernas, with excellent fish, several of which stay open all year, all within walking distance of the villa. The village also has two bakeries and two general stores. The beach at Amaliapolis is also within walking distance of Villa Christina and is sandy and gently sloping - making it very suitable for young children. There is also a children?s playground, 5-a-side football pitch and volleyball court next to the beach. In high season there are 2 beach bars. In summer Amaliapolis is popular with holidaying Greek families who enjoy this unspoilt area of mainland Greece. Here in Magnesia you can experience the 'real' Greece largely untouched by mass market tourism.

As well as the sandy village beach there are several good beaches dotted around the west side of the Pagasitic Gulf all within a 30 minute drive of your holiday accommodation in Amaliapolis . There are also delightful Thessalian mountain villages to explore with extensive forested areas for walking. You can also take a boat trip to the island of Skiathos with its famous sandy beaches. The area of Magnesia is rich in archaeological sites including Ancient Thebes, Prehistoric Dimini, Sesklo and Dimitras. Volos (50km away from your holiday villa in Amaliapolis) is a bustling small city with a wide range of shops, restaurants and ferry links to the nearby islands of Skiathos, Alonissos and Skopelos (where Mama Mia was filmed). The Pelion Peninsula is within driving distance with beautiful scenery - a good day trip. In winter there is even a ski resort on the peninsula! Explore the seaside villages or drive up into the mountains for breathtaking views.

If you want to venture further afield both classical Delphi (approx 120km from Amaliapolis) and the Byzantine monasteries of Meteora (approx 180km) make fascinating excursions as does the lesser known but stunning archaeological site of Dion (approx 170km). It is also possible to visit Vergina and Pella near Thessaloniki for those who are keen on archaeology.
