Area Description

The property is situated alongside the Canal du Midi (as seen on TV when Rick Stein did his French cookery programme). Beautiful canal walks, loads of local interest with Cathar Chateaux and medieval history.

A walking, cycling and bird watching paradise. Plenty of lakes, rivers, gorges, mountains, hills and the sea closeby. Across from us is the "Etang" a drained salt lake which with it's fertile soil and drainage ditches grows grapes, melons, apples and several rice fields.

Vines are grown everywhere which lends itself to the beauty of the vineyards in all seasons. Absolutley stunning in autumn with the colours.

Shopping is great. Carcassonne, only 15 minutes away and offers all types of supermarkets and shops. There is also the old medieval town full of interest with restaurants, cafes and shops. Explore walking around the double walls with their 52 turrets and looking out towards the Pyrenees.

In Marseillette we can offer a Bar, hairdresser, Hotel / restaurant which can double as another bar and less than 200 metres away. Beautiful Boulangerie / Patisserie. There is a small market there on Thursday mornings. Trebes, another larger town along the canal only 5 mins away has all the necassary shops and supermarkets, banks, internet cafe etc
