These were four small pigsties which were also used for weaning calves. They have rough stone walls and are now two studios, one with a mezzanine. The top pigsty sleeps two people and is accessible to wheelchair users.

It is possible to come and stay at Fowl Green Farm and eat and sleep in a pigsty.

The top pigsty is completely accessible on the ground floor. There is a kitchen area with a hob and sink set into work surfaces of different heights, combination microwave/grill, fridge and food storage space.

There is a dining area with table and chairs, a sitting area with television and a bedroom area. The bedroom has a double bed.

The bathroom is downstairs with a wet floor shower with fold down shower seat, grab rails, toilet and vanity basin with lever taps.

Upstairs in the top pigsty is a shelf bed accessed by a ladder.

Heating is underfloor and there is plenty of hot water.

Area Description

The farm is set in the North York Moors national park, in the Whitby district and surrounded by Heartbeat country. The sea is just 7 miles away.

This is a working family farm which was bought by the family in 1900.
Livestock includes sheep, pigs, free range hens and a fold of highland cattle, not forgetting Nell, our sheep dog. We are also part of a conservation scheme with plantings of oak trees and wildflower meadows. We have discovered rare orchids and other species of wild flower since we excluded sheep from our woods.

Throughout we have created wheelchair accessible footpaths and picnic sites in woodland, meadow and stream side areas, so that all the family can enjoy the tranquillity of the countryside. The area is rich in wildlife including deer, rabbits and other small animal, a wide variety of birds and wild flowers.

A safe place for children to play, it is ideal for walking, riding, cycling. It is also popular with artists and photographers.
