Area Description

The apartment is well located for exploring beaches with crystal clear, the interior of the island, the mountains and the many archaeological remains. One of this Nuraghe riu Mulinu (1300 b.C.), visible from house and in 20 minute walk. All the area where the house is located is called ?Cabu Abbas? from Latin ?Caput Abbae? that mean an important place for water . Not far from this area, in fact, we have a water source used from the roman empire called ?Sa Testa?.

The Greeks used call it ?Olbia Polis? meaning ?happy town?. Olbia lies in a very convenient position in a plain around a deep and wide natural port, along the north-eastrn coast of Sardinia backed by a series of hills descending toward the sea. In the surroundings of Olbia evidence of its long and glorius history such as the ?Sa Testa ? holy well and the ? Su Monte ?e SApe? giant tomb can be found. Other important monuments in the town are the Roman acqueduct and some of the Punic walls still visible. The Romanesque San Simplicio church and the ?Pedres Castle? which controlled the passageway between the Gallura region and the Barbague region, testimonial of the Medieval history of the town.

The historical centre deserves a good walk. The sites of the church of San Paolo in granite bricks, small lanes where you can still read the 1600 ? 1700 inscription above the doors lintel, worth a visit. The territorial coast of Olbia stretches for 100 km. The rugged coastline with its rocky shores and beautiful beaches, offers an amazing view. The area is characterized by numerous white sandy beaches large and small and crystal clear sea. Porto Rotondo, Porto Cervo and La Maddalena Island are very well known tourist resort.

Car is recommended so you can move around and enjoy all beauty of Sardinia.
