Kitchen Facilities The gîte features a fitted kitchen with all appliances, a wood burner and second UK TV as well as a separate dining room with a large oak table and chairs. There's also a washing machine and drying room with tumble dryer. Outside The pool area is a natural sun trap and features sunloungers, chairs and tables as well as an open sided barn with a fridge and table tennis table. There's also a separate outside dining area with BBQ. The garden has a number of fruit trees and overlooks neighbouring countryside. SuitabilityGroups and extended families - bedrooms on lower floor suitable for elderly. Local ActivitiesOur nearest town is St.James, about 5km away. This charming little town features several good restaurants as well as a surprisingly good range of shops and bars; there are also two good supermarkets. Just outside the town is the large American Second World War cemetery. We're just 18 km from the internationally known World Heritage Site of Le Mont St.Michel. Mont Saint Michel is an abbey (dating back to the 8th. century) built on a rock island around a kilometre off the coast connected by a causeway. The Mont is the second most popular tourist attraction in France: a visit is a 'Must Do'. For the children amongst us there are plenty of attractions from zooming around on go carts at our excellent local track to bungee jumping for the more adventurous. Or, for something more peaceful there are some lovely walks in the forest at St Sever, or for shopping with a difference there are the local Brocantes or Depot Ventes for inexpensive furniture. A trip to the Zoo at Champrépus (don't miss the Lemur reserve where the lemurs run freely and mingle with the visitors!) or the Alligator Bay Reptilarium near Mont St.Michel is also great for the kids. We can give you more specific information and recommendations as to the very many local attractions and sights before or on on your arrival. If you're a wildlife lover, you'll be pleased to learn that this part of Normandy is positively teeming with wildlife of all types including many species of birds that are now rare in the UK. Bring your binoculars! Alternatively of course, you may prefer to simply spend the day lounging by our swimming pool, reading something from our small library, playing table tennis or pool or simply enjoying a stroll through the countryside around La Daviais. The choice is yours! Other Information
