Property Description

Le Moulin de L’Argentouire is a large gite situated in the Aude region of Languedoc-Roussillon in the South of France, midway between Carcassonne and Toulouse just off the main A61 auto route. It is approximately an hour and a half from the Mediterranean beaches and an hour from La Montagne Noire and the Pyrenees.

Living Area

Le Moulin was originally a water mill and is around 300 years old. The house has been separated to provide a large gite and private living quarters for the owners and has been renovated to a high standard. The gite is very spacious with 4 bedrooms (2 ensuite), a family bathroom, kitchen and sitting room it comfortably provides accommodation for 9 people. There is a DVD player in the sitting room and a small library of DVD's available or you can bring your own.

All rooms for the gite are on one level and may be suitable for persons with reduced mobility, please contact us if you wish to discuss this option.

Smoking is permitted outside.

Kitchen Facilities

The kitchen has a dishwasher, microwave, toaster, cooker, a fridge and a good range of cooking utensils so that if you choose to you can cater for and prepare your own meals almost as if you were at home.

Outside

There is a pool (occasionally used by the owners) and gardens which provide a tranquil setting in which you can relax. The attractive swimming pool (15 x 6.5 meters) is fenced in accordance with the new French safety regulations. The pool is in the sun for most of the day but there are trees in the garden which can provide dappled shade when you want to avoid direct sunlight. The total area of the immediate site is around 1 acre and is surrounded by sunflower and barley fields depending on the local farmers crop for the year.

Suitability

This is a real chill out location, with a lovely pool in a country setting. Best suited to those wanting to relax and enjoy the ambiance of a wonderful region in the South of France.

Local Activities

French market places, shopping, restaurants and places of historical interest such as the world heritage sites of Carcassonne, the Canal du Midi and the Pont Gard all easily reached.

You can visit the space centre in Toulouse or follow the route of the Cathars to visit fortified towns such as Rennes Le Chateau of Da Vinci Code fame.

Other activities include, walking, cycling, white water rafting, canoing, underground caves and the usual facilities for golf, tennis and horse riding.

Other Information

Languedoc-Rousillion is the largest wine producing region in France and you can tour through the Corbieres, Minervois and Fitou wine producing regions which all have their own unique and wonderful scenary with some of the loveliest villages in France.
