Local Activities

Food & Wine

The Southern Piedmont is dotted with numerous small villages with castles, churches or convents that can be seen from afar. A number of stately homes open their doors and gardens during the summer months.

Mango has a beautiful castle. Inside you will find a restaurant and the Enoteca Regionale for wine tasting.

The villages of Barolo and Barbaresco - famous worldwide for their wines - are within a short driving distance. Not surprisingly in an area famous for its wines, good food is just as important and a stone throw away. ‘Foodies’ will find themselves in heaven; The Slow Food movement did not originate for nothing in this part of the Piedmont.

You will find numerous Michelin star, and family run restaurants to pizzerias within a fifteen minute drive.

Different wine and food festivities are organised from Easter until early December.

During the summer months the villages organise their own smaller fete. Not a week passes without one being held somewhere.

Walking, cycling, riding and far more

The bureau of tourism has set out a number of local tours that can be done on foot, by (mountain) bike or on horse back, which will take you through beautiful countryside. Other outdoor activities from rafting to paragliding are also available.

Golf

A total of seven 18 hole golf courses and a number of challenging 9 hole golf courses, within a radius of 50 km, should be able to satisfy the average golfer.

Art, music and theatre

Particularly during the summer months cultural events are held all over Southern Piedmont.

Day trips

Turin - Milan - Genoa

With the new motorway Alba - Asti completed, which connects to the A 21, a day trip to Turin, Milan or Genoa has been made even easier. Whilst Milan and Genoa are better known, we have not met anybody who was not more than pleasantly surprised by Turin (one hour to the centre of town).

Tip: Visit one of the Italian gardens or old stately homes en route.

Alba - Asti - Aqui Terme and many more

Three totally different provincial towns, dating back to different eras are worth visiting for their architecture. Shopping here is also very good, though on a smaller scale than in the above mentioned cities. All famous Italian brands - some even have their own shops - can be found in these towns. The large Saturday market in Alba - famous for its white truffle - is also worth a visit. The smaller town of Neive has been promoted to “one of the hundred most beautiful villages of Italy”

Beach

A day at the seaside in the charming old town of Noli, (about one hour’s drive) will let you experience how unspoiled the Mediterranean still can be.

Tip: Combine your day at the beach with a visit to Savona (10 minutes from Noli)
