This 18th Century farmhouse Gite has 5 bedrooms comfortably sleeping up to 12 people. It has been sympathetically renovated and blends the charm of old French Country living with modern day convenience. Set in a hectare of private wooded gardens with a small lake, Le Cedre Gite offers peace and tranquillity without isolation. The inner courtyard includes a fenced off area with an interesting pool including a separate children's pool and a fully equipped sunbathing terrace. Surrounding the house are various terraces and patios, perfect for a moment of solitude, sunbathing or eating Al Fresco , containing ample garden furniture and a BBQ to help you enjoy the outdoor life that this exceptional climate supports.

The kitchen has all modern facilities. An island with a preparation sink and dishwasher. Built-in oven, Hob, Large refrigerator, Microwave and a second sink, with a window overlooking the patio and pools. The washing machine and dryer can be found in the utility room.

There are two bathrooms on the ground floor with toilet, washbasins and shower cubicles, tiled floors and walls, tastefully decorated.

Bedroom 1, found upstairs leads off the gallery, this room has exposed beams with views overlooking the front garden. There are two double beds, en-suite bathroom with a bath and separate shower unit, washbasin and toilet.

Bedroom 2, is on the ground floor, in the North Wing, with double bed plus a single bed, exposed beams and a antique tiled floor.

Bedroom 3, in the South Wing is situated on the mezzanine floor overlooking the games room and has 3 single beds, exposed beams.

Bedroom 4 is on the ground floor. This room has French windows opening onto a terrace with views to the pools and gardens. The room has a double bed plus an extra single bed. In keeping with the renovation much of the furniture is antique and typically French with the added comfort of modern living.

Bedroom 5, on the ground floor. This room has french doors opening on the rear gardens with views of the Ceder tree.It is a large open airy room having 4 single beds.

The Patio and terraces are planted with colourful shrubs and plants,and there is plenty of garden furniture for eating 'al fresco' in the warm balmy evenings!! BBQ provided.

The pools are exceptional, the main pool is 6x10m and attached is a 3m children's pool making a haricot shape.The main pool is 2 metres deep and the childrens pool is 55cm deep. There is terracing all around the pool

The games room situated in the house has a 3/4 size Snooker table. There is table tennis in the garden.

Local Activities

Le Cedre is located in the South Vendee, in an area known as the Poitou Charente, which, along with the Charente Maritime, enjoys a microclimate producing 2400-2600 hours of sunshine each year, making it one of the sunniest regions of France.

The property is situated in the small and delightfully rural hamlet of Les Moullieres, within easy reach of the village of L'Hermenault, where you will find a supermarket, post office, bank, baker, tobac and a doctor who speaks good English. A mere 12kms away is the old renaissance town of Fontenay-le-Comte, which apart from its many historical and architectural treasures, has a large variety of shops ranging from mobile phone shops to charcuteries, 2 hypermarkets, many bars and restaurants and a host of cultural and sporting activities.

Other Local Attractions include the spectacular grand park and cinescrene of the Puy du Fou, the lakes and forest of the Mervent/Vouvant, the Marais Poitevin(Green Venice - a latticework of canals scattered with riverside cottages and small villages),and the long sandy beaches of the Atlantic coast.
