Situated close to the French Spanish border, Maison Hirondelle is ideally situated to enjoy the leisure and cultural activities of two countries in the glorious Other South of France.

Downstairs the exposed wood ceiling beams and large, wood burning fireplace bring real French character to the open plan living accommodation, with the bonus of a second sitting room upstairs.

Outside the garden, with nut, fruit and palm trees, slopes to the impressive, secluded pool area, complete with jacuzzi, and behind the barn, a flat area allows games of croquet and petanque. On the edge of a sleepy little hamlet, it is an ideal base for walks in the beautiful countryside, (with views of the magnificent Pyrenees with their increasingly popular ski slopes).

Nearby is Orthez (8 km), an ancient market town offering cafes, restaurants, hypermarkets and a leisure lake with beach. Visit the area's pretty villages, chateau, castle, museums, markets, fetes. Ritzy Biarritz offers surfing and designer shops, Pau - the first mainland golf course in Europe. The famous pilgrimage destination of Lourdes is about one hour's drive and the nearby Grottes de Bertheram.

Over the border in Spain is the elegant coastal city of San Sebastien and a little further down the coast, Bilbao, famous for the reknowned Guggenheim Museum.
