Nestled at the foot of the Five Sisters of Kintail, Woodlands offers a spacious and comfortable base for large groups of climbers, walkers, sightseers and anyone wishing to celebrate a special occasion with friends and family.

*If you want to bag some Munros, then with 21 Munros in Glenshiel and more a little further afield you can?t get a better location.

*If you like deserted glens, tumbling burns and cascading waterfalls (not to mention the stunning Loch Duich just minutes around the corner from the house), then Woodlands is for you.

*If you?re planning a family reunion, milestone anniversary or you?re getting married at Eilean Donan Castle and need a place to put your family and friends up in, then Woodlands, with its huge lounge and 12-seater dining table in the large kitchen, is perfect for the job.

*Last, but by no means least, children of all ages love Woodlands as there is plenty of space to play both indoors and outside in the grounds, plus there are lots of things to do.

Standing in a glen that boasts no fewer than 21 Munros, Woodlands enjoys the best of both worlds being in a remote location yet having a shop, bar and restaurant all within walking distance. Area Description

For Walkers and Climbers

Woodlands is a fantastic base for walkers and climbers. Apart from the multitude of Munros in Glenshiel itself, (the Five Sisters and Saddle being accessed directly from the house!), there's a whole host of other walks to do including coastal, valley and woodland. Other mountain ranges reachable from Woodlands are The Cuillin hills, Torridon, Ben Nevis range, Glen Affric, Glenelg and Knoydart. In addition Glencoe is about two hours away.

For the Tourer

Woodlands is extremely well-placed for touring the Highlands and Islands. Enjoy the peace and tranquillity of Applecross accessed via the highest road in Scotland, or take a cruise along Loch Ness and visit Urquhart Castle. Closer to home there is the glorious Glenelg peninsular, the delightful Plockton or you may fancy going over the sea to Skye. Go whale watching, take a seal trip, sail in a glass bottomed boat, go boating, pony trekking, mackerel fishing or just relax in the house and enjoy the views
The nearby Falls of Glomach, Eilean Donan Castle, the Iron Age Brochs of Glenelg and, of course, the abundance of wildlife the area has to offer. Golden eagles, pine martens, seals, porpoises, otters, wild goats and red deer have all been spotted in the vicinity. There was even a whale in nearby Loch Duich once!

Travel Information

Woodlands is on the A87 to Skye at Shiel Bridge. To pinpoint its exact location see the OS Landranger map 33 Grid Ref: 937189.
Buses from Glasgow, Edinburgh, Inverness and Skye all stop just over a hundred yards from the house. Alternatively, there is the spectacular train journey from Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh (featured as one of the Great Railway Journeys of the World).
