Local Activities
The street where our B&B is located in is very quiet, with little traffic and runs parallel to via Tuscolana, which is easily reached from the both Fiumicino and Ciampino airports as well as being close to the “Grande Raccordo Anulare” ring road just yards from the underground rail station metropolitana Linea A “Giulio Agricola”.
Piazza Cinecittà is really close by a bus terminal and just a few minutes from a large mall, the film studios and the Ikea store, well-stocked with everything you need in home furnishings.
Via Tuscolana is ideal for shopping, and even for saving money. Tuscolana is a busy trading district with much to offer at competitive prices. You will find all kinds of shops here, including supermarkets, jewellers, clothes shops, electronics and videogames, shops selling rare comics and books, cinemas and fast-food restaurants and tipical roman trattoria.
Our B&B in Rome is also well placed close te ancient and roman “Parco degli Acquedotti”, with its wide open spaces and picturesque views crossed by ancient Roman aqueducts. It is an enchanting spot for a sunset walk before settling down to dinner at a restaurant.
Other Information
You can reach the heart of the city centre from our B&B… you can get to the center and visit the Colosseum, Piazza Venezia, the Imperial Forum, St. Peter’s Basilica, Via del Corso, the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps, as well as San Giovanni square, home to the customary May Day concert.
Piazza Navona has colorful stalls you can browse and portrait artists who will whip up your likeness or that of a celebrity in a matter of minutes, or you eat an excellent home made ice-cream to the sound of Bernini’s fountain that dominates the square. The famous Testaccio district is a short trip away, with its trattorias serving fine Roman cuisine.
The Trastevere district with its picturesque alleyways and Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere will revive your summer evenings with the book shops and jugglers, stilt walkers and fire eaters.
Piazza Santa Maria has become a place of music and song, as well as a meeting place for students from all over the world (Rome’s American John Cabot University is nearby).
Trastevere is also the area where Rome’s summer festival is held, the Festa De’ Noantri, a bustling fair with candy stalls and children’s rides, as well as the Sunday Porta Portese market where a range of goods can be found at low prices, including the likes of T-shirts, CDs and antique furniture, all recalled in song by the popular Roman musician Claudio Baglioni.
The beautiful Roman castles are within easy reach of our B&Bs, favoured destinations for out-of-town excursions to local fetes with the typical array of flowers, wine tasting and local dishes. Frascati, Genzano, Castel Gandolfo lake and Ariccia, famous for its “porchetta”(roast pork on a spit) are among these destinations.
Visitors Reviews
Mirko’s Bed and Breakfast is a wonderful place. My friend and I stayed for over a week. Mirko and Maria were so friendly and helpful. I will tell all of my friends to stay at Mirko’s Bed and Brakfast when they come to Rome.
