Property Description

Villa Planina is situated on the edge of a charming rustic village called Ratece, in the heart of the Julian Alps just outside Slovenia?s most famous ski-resort Kranjska Gora, home to annual world cup slalom and ski-jumping events.

The Villa is situated in a unique location with uninterrupted panoramic views from each apartment towards the snow capped peaks of Jalovec and Mojstrovka mountains and bathed in sunlight from morning to evening. Finished to an extremely high quality, with unstinting attention to detail, we believe the Villa sets new standards in self-catering accommodation in the Kranjska Gora area - underfloor heating, flat screen TVs, DVD players, wireless internet, shared games room with pool table and ping pong table are among the many facilities. In the basement there is a soft play room for kids which can be used by all our guests. The house is on the edge of the wonderful alpine Slovenian village of Ratece with 4 excellent restaurants, bar and supermarket in walking distance.

The first floor apartment is extremely spacious and light and features one large double bedroom with balcony access, one twin bedroom (beds can be moved together to create a double), large bathroom with bath and shower, large open plan kitchen (fully fitted with dishwasher, washing machine, oven, hob, microwave, kettle, toaster) dining area and living space with access onto a huge sunny balcony with fantastic views.

Villa Planina, Kranjska Gora Apartments are situated in a beautiful, peaceful position on the edge of the village of Ratece. Ratece is a charming Slovenian mountain village five minutes drive from Kranjska Gora, offering an authentic alpine experience, several excellent traditional restaurants, renowned in the region amongst local Slovenians, Italians & Austrians and various local amenities such as post office, supermarket and bars. The Villa itself offers uninterrupted views of some of the Julian Alps? most majestic peaks and offers a huge amount of stunning walking and mountain biking from the doorstep ? for example up the wonderful Tamar Valley into the Triglav National Park or to the triple border, the point where Italy, Austria & Slovenia meet. In Winter there is skiing just 5 minutes drive or bus away at Kranjska Gora, a superb resort for families and beginner ? intermediate level skiers. The excellent resort of Tarvisio Monte Lussari in Italy is just 15 minutes drive from the house and the resorts of Bovec -Sella Nevea (Italy ? Slovenia), Arnoldstein Deilandereck & Gerlitzen (Austria) are cca 30 minutes drive, with a number of other resorts reachable as an easy day trip within an hour. Skiing 3 resorts in 3 countries in a weekend is an unforgettable experience that is easily possible from Villa Planina. There is extensive cross country skiing in walking distance of the house and the house is one of the closest places to stay to the annual World Cup Ski Jumping at Ratece Planica - the world?s highest and most famous ski jumping venue. Kranjska Gora itself is the most famous mountain resort in Slovenia, hosting annual world cup skiing and ski-jumping events. But with stunning mountain scenery, great access to the Triglav National park and a host of outdoor pursuits (e.g. walking, mountain biking, horse riding) it remains very popular all year round. The town itself is a pretty alpine affair, very family friendly, with lots of lively restaurants, bars and a couple of swimming pools / spas.
