This deceptively spacious second floor apartment enjoys wonderful sea views and intimate views of the village and its proximity to the beach, restaurants and bars allows you freedom to come and go as you wish. The entrance to this pretty white building with blue window trim is recessed and access is via a brown wooden condominium door. Casa Shelly is reached by climbing four 'half' flights of stairs. This modern apartment has a lounge/diner with flatscreen TV with a selection of free to view channels, DVD and CD player, a fully fitted kitchen including microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. There are three cool, spacious bedrooms (2 doubles and 1 twin) all with fitted wardrobes. One bathroom and a shower room are shared between the bedrooms. Casa Shelly is centrally heated, allowing this apartment to be rented out of season. The lounge diner has sliding patio doors that open onto the small balcony which offers BBQ, table and comfortable seating allowing you enough space to sit out and listen to the waves. Perfect to relax and unwind in the evening, or if you are an early riser, you will be able to watch the local fisherman in the distance out in their boats catching squid for the local restaurants. With several hillside walks and trails that have small restaurants and scenic stops along the way, Casa Shelly is the perfect retreat for a relaxing, hassle free beach holiday. Area Description

Burgau is a delightful, quaint and peaceful village in the West Algarve. Burgau overlooks a secluded bay boasting a beautiful sandy beach, with a beach bar serving snacks and meals. Burgau is still a working fishing village with friendly locals and the heart of the village still remains much unchanged, being protected by a conservation order to retain its character.

Relatively unspoilt by tourism, Burgau has good restaurants and bars catering for most tastes and price ranges. Built on a hillside, Burgau's old fishermen's houses line cobbled streets that lead to the bay, with its beautiful sandy beach and the slipway with its colourful fleet of Algarve fishing boats. If you are up and about early, why not have a bacon and egg breakfast at the Brieze bar, where you can watch the fishermen land their catch?

Scattered amongst the huddle of white-washed houses are several restaurants, bars, mini-markets, gift and pottery shops, whilst in the centre of Burgau village is the bus stop, where the locals sit and pass the time of day. Just outside the village is the Burgau Sports Centre with outdoor pool, tennis courts and snack bar. Andy Robinson arranges sports days for children here which are very well attended. Both children and adults are also well catered for with coaching sessions in squash and tennis, with the occasional opportunity to take on the locals in international matches!

Many people return year after year to Burgau and feel that it is a home from home and one of the best kept secrets of the Portuguese West Algarve. Burgau is just over an hour's drive from Faro aiport along a fast new highway. There is a wide choice of villas, apartments and golf resorts within a few kilometers of Burgau.
