Property Description
Podere Fontegallo, perched on the highest hill in the area near Lake Trasimeno, has breathtaking 360 degree views of two lakes, rolling hills of farmland, and several medieval towns, including Castiglione del Lago, Cortona, Montepulciano, Chiusi, Panicale, and Paciano.
Podere Fontegallo offers three apartments and a separate cottage.
Il Cipresso (4+2) is a two-bedroom apartment with a sleeper sofa in the sitting room that opens to a double bed. Il Cipresso contains a large open plan kitchen, dining area, sitting area with an open fireplace; French doors lead to the front private patio and an original door leading to the two double bedrooms and shower room. French doors lead from the main bedroom to the back garden. Amenities include satellite TV, DVD, VCR, safe, dishwasher and espresso maker.
The owner, playwright and screenwriter, after travelling all over the world and living in several countries, most recently in London, decided to quit the rat race and change his life style. The result is Podere Fontegallo a newly restored 17th century farmhouse perched on a hill in the tranquil Umbrian countryside just ten minutes drive from Tuscany with spectacular panoramic views to the horizon in all directions. From Podere Fontegallo you can see the gentle rolling hills of agriculture, olive, cypress, Aleppo pine, oak and chestnut trees, Lakes Trasimeno and Chiusi and the Medieval hilltop villages of Cortona, Chiusi, Panicale, Chianciano-Terme, Montepulciano and the mountains in the distance on the horizon.
Podere Fontegallo offers three apartments and a separate house, each different from the other in décor. All of the units have fully equipped open plan kitchens with chestnut wood cabinets, natural stone countertops, dishwasher, espresso maker, and all have a front patio with breathtaking views. Two of the apartments also have French doors leading outside from the main bedroom to the back garden. Three of the apartments have a sitting area with a woodburning fireplace.
Podere Fontegallo has been recently restored with utmost care to a very high standard using the best materials in keeping with the character of the house.
Outside on the wall of the house is a locally designed handmade ceramic meridian, the patios are decorated with handmade ceramic tiles, on the roof are three beautiful chimneys, then there is the environmentally friendly swimming pool (6m x 14m) with water purified by UVA rays (no chlorine) and views of the countryside and Lakes Chiusi and Trasimeno, and throughout the property are quiet places to sit and admire the views.
Inside are typical terracotta floors, beamed ceilings, fireplaces, original doors and wrought iron beds.
