Property DescriptionOur house rests on its own bridge, in a valley, with a bubbling brook that runs beneath the house.
Mulino – Top floor apartment: 1 antique double bedroom, see San Matteo room and the Nonna room with twin beds that can be made up into a king-size double bed. There is a day-bed (twin-bed size) in the living area. The house sleeps 5 comfortably. There are 2 large full bathrooms with tiled shower rooms and modern plumbing. There is a living room with comfortable sofa and upholstered chairs, wide flat-screen TV, Satellite TV with English channels, DVD and dining room and full kitchen.
Valentina apartment - sleeps 2 - is on the ground floor, inside the arched doorway. It has 2 single beds that can be joined together to make a king-sized double bed, There is a full kitchen, flat screen TV with satellite channels, internet connection full kitchen with dining table for 2 and 2 side chairs for reading and a romantic wood burning stove.
Living Area There is a living room with comfortable sofa and upholstered chairs, fireplace and dining room/kitchen. The interiors have terra cotta floors and chestnut beamed ceilings, with charming antique furnishings and comfortable beds, all new plumbing, electrical systems and new appliances, including a laundry. Kitchen Facilities Full kitchen with 4-burner stove with oven, refridge and sink. Fully stocked with plates, glassware and cutlery, pots and pans and cooking utensils. Outside Our house rests on its own bridge, in its own valley, with a bubbling brook that runs beneath the house. There is a back area garden where one can wade in the brook and a waterfall up the trail behind the house that is fun to climb over to stand under and take a natural shower. In summer, it is 3-5 C. degrees cooler than the average temperature. We have outdoor table, chairs and lounge chairs for relaxing in the areas next to the brook. The bridge in front is also a long patio spanning the house with table and chairs, which enables you to dine outside. The view in the front of the house is the brook and the church of Tofori which sits prominently on the hill in front of us. A short walk to the top of our driveway opens to a view of the olive groves, and vineyards.
SuitabilityNot suitable for small children, under the age of 10. The house sits on a bridge with a low stone wall. Local ActivitiesWe are located in a lovely scenic hills about 12 kilometers from the most picturesque city of Lucca, with easy access to a village grocery store, post office, restaurants and cafes. It is most centrally located for convenient day trips to Lucca (15 minutes), Pisa and the sea-side beaches of Viareggio (40 minutes), Montecatini, the famous spa town,(20 minutes). We are about 45 minutes by car to Florence, or you can drive your car to a nearby train station and from there, it is a pleasant hour by train to the Florence station in the center of town, thereby avoiding traffic and parking problems. We are about an 1 hour - 20 minutes to Siena and 1 hour - 20 minute scenic drive to the Cinque Terre. There are several small lovely restaurants among the vineyards nearby for a relaxing dinner after a day's travels. Other InformationOne will the historic city of Lucca to be a pleasant surprise. There is biking and walking on the road at the top of the Renaissance wall that surrounds the city. There are classical music and Puccini concerts in the church of San Giovanni Battista (around the corner from the Cathedral of San Martino) , every evening , featuring works of Mozart, Puccini, Verdi and other Italian composers (All of this, because it is the birthplace of opera composer, Giacomo Puccini).
