Local Activities

The village of Viganj has a burgeoning windsurfing scene. There is a windsurfing and scuba diving school here. A trek or drive to the Sveti IIja Monastery above the village, offering a stunning ariel view of the area, is highly reccomended. There is a restaurant further up from the monastery where you can have lunch whilst enjoying the lovely views.

There are many other watersports on offer in the area like kayaking, sailing, fishing etc.

Orebic has many shops and restaurants and the old part of Orebic, on the sea front is very picturesque and has a long shingle beach.

In Orebic you can take a car ferry to the island of Korcula and explore this historic island. You can also take a passenger ferry directly to Korcula Old Town, where the architecture has a Venitian influence as this entire area was controlled by Venice for over 400 years. It is also the birth place of Marco Polo and you can visit his ancesteral home. Korcula also has many interesting shops and many bars and restaurants on the leafy front part of the old Town.

The dramatic and stunningly beautiful peninsula is often reffered to as the granery of the area. Some of the best wines in Croatia are made on the pennisula and Korcula from the localy grown grapes and you can visit the winery of your choice and tast the local wines. Visit the lovely little villages nestling in small coves below, specially the village of Trestenik.

Take a drive to The historic old town of Stone and do take a walk on the newly rennovated wall which offers stunning views over this walled city and the salt flats which the wall was built to protect.

A trip to Mali (small) Stone is highly reccomended and a leasurely lunch with local oysters, which are freshly harvested from the bay, is a perfect way to end your tour of the peninsula as here it joins the mainland.

You can take a passenger boat for a day trip to Dubrovnik or car ferry to the island of Mijet or a ferry from Korcula to the island of Havar, north of Korcula
