The private balcony get the sun all day. Activities abound, marine based and otherwise. There is good surf and the wind surfing world championships are held at Sotavento Playa, along this coastline. There are many shops, bars and restaurants close to the apartment and in the concourse below. Cash machines are also around. For eating in, there is a supermarket in the concourse beneath the apartment, together with a private medical clinic nearby. Shoppers: Fuerteventura is duty free! The climate is "desert"; summers are hot and dry; winters are warm with a little rain occasionally, a bit like a good English September. There is thus an all year round letting season and the rent for this apartment is the same, whatever climate or time you prefer.

The sunny private balconies command superb sea views and are not overlooked. Furnished with table, chairs and parasol. The airy living area can seat 7 and includes a sofa bed capable of sleeping two guests. A television with DVD player is included, plus ceiling fan, iron, ironing board and hair dryer. Please note: that pictures of the new interiors are pending. The tiling is now blue and white throughout, with textiles to match. They have many additional features making them superior to other apartments in Palm Garden.

Area Description

Palm Garden is in a very central location and access on foot to all local amenities is easy. It has communal swimming and toddler pools with sun loungers and a restaurant by the pool. There is a bar and games room.
The lobby has internet access and public phones. At street level is a row of shops, cafes, and restaurants as choose from. The supermarket and medical centres are also very near.
The fishing village/port of Morro Jable is about 20 minutes' walk away. There is a harbour there and plenty of "non tourist" shops. The waterfront also boasts a lovely series of restaurants. Local food is fantastic! It has banks, post office and police station, plus big supermarket and laundrette.

Coast/Beach
The (start of the) beach is just a short 200m level walk from your apartment building. Loungers and sunshades can be hired at regular intervals along the beaches, where there are also occasional laid back beach bars, playing mostly Spanish music with a wide range of freshly prepared meals, ices and refreshments, alcoholic and otherwise, at fair prices. Their snacks are very enticing, including Gambas al Aquillo (sizzling prawns in garlic) and mejillones (mussels), which dwarf British mussels.

Golf
There are several golf courses on Fuerteventura and more in the making, including one in Jandia. Not being golfers ourselves, we cannot comment specifically but you would need to hire transport to reach a golf course, or some of them, if you want a choice of courses.

Skiing
Water skiing only!

Special interest holidays
The beach is ideal for all forms of surfing and there are surf, sailing and diving schools very near. Activities available include fishing, diving, sailing, tennis, golf, boat trips, visits to other islands by ferry, cycling, camel riding, mountain biking, trike biking, motocross biking, jet-ski, botanical gardens, animal park and walking. Fuerteventura has a spectacular volcanic landscape.

Travel
The road from the airport is modern. A taxi ride from the airport will cost about 100 Euros and take about 50 minutes, or you can take a number 10 bus, which is a cheap and comfortable ride. It stops directly opposite Palm Garden. You can hire a car, either at the airport or at your destination. If you want to explore the island you would probably do better to hire a car than to go on organised trips. Private transfers be arranged at the time of booking for less than the usual taxi fare.

Distances
Morro Jable is the nearest town. It takes about 20 minutes to walk to, along the road, beach or promenade. You can alternatively take a short taxi or bus ride to get there. It is a living village with good restaurants along the waterfront. It has banks, post office and police station, plus big (Spar) supermarket, laundry, and much more!

There are camel rides and a zoo/ botanic garden at La Lajita, about 16 miles away. You will pass through here on your way from the airport.

Further details
It would be wise to take out medical insurance as (private) treatment can prove expensive. Public medical facilites are not well developed on this part of the island, at least. There are some excellent restaurants, especially Coronata in Morro Jable and the Marabu at Esquinzo, a couple of miles down the coast, but more than worth the effort! You can reach Esquinzo via the local (blue and yellow) circular bus service, which also stops directly opposite Palm Garden, or walk the shore to get there.
The Oasis Bar beneath the apartments if good for music. La Sirena cafe is another favourite there. Try a Cocktail at the Kuhstall Bar in the adjoining Cosmo Centre or (more expensive) at the Treffpunkt, further down the strip.
