Cuisine in Slovakia is made up of the mainstays of the land - milk, potatoes and cabbage. The town of Bratislava has become synonymous with fine food and drink as it is recognized for its fine restaurants.
A delicacy that is one of the first to be registered by the European Commission, Skalicky trdellnik is a pastry that includes chopped up walnuts, almonds and apricots. It is then baked on a roller over radiant heat and sprinkled with vanilla sugar.
There are more and more shopping centers popping up in Slovakia but most people prefer the folk art of the city as souvenirs to bring home.
There are a number of historical tours of the city at your service. Getting around town can be arranged by car, train, boat, city transport, bus, taxi - just about any form of transportation you can think of.
