The Republic of Montenegro is a small Mediterranean country which is situated on the Balkan Peninsula in the South of Europe, sharing its borders with Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia, Albania and Kosovo. Despite its seemingly miniscule size, Montenegro remains a country of startling contrasts and it is brimming with culture boasting several historic and picturesque towns.

One of the main attractions that Montenegro has to offer is its Adriatic coastline which seldom exceeds four miles in width along its entire length. Here you will find many beach resorts and hotels which are highly popular amongst families and friends in search of fun-filled beach holidays and relaxing getaways. Many visitors are also drawn to the area by the Montenegrin Mountains which are ideal for evening walks on sunny days.

Up until recently, the tourism industry had taken a turn for the worse, although the situation seems to be reversing steadily with many of the country's roads and hotels currently being renovated following a record number of tourists visiting the country throughout the course of last year.

Weather-wise, the lower regions of Montenegro enjoy a temperate Mediterranean climate with long dry summers and comparatively mild winters with a considerable amount of rainfall. However, the temperatures fall steadily the further you travel above sea level.
