Situated in the Indian Ocean, east of Madagascar, is the tiny island of Mauritius and it is a stunning slice of tropical paradise. Besides its magnificent sandy beaches, renowned cuisine, first class health spas and exquisite choice of select golf courses, Mauritius is able to offer a seemingly endless plethora of activities despite its deceptively small size.
Popular pastimes and activities which are shared by those who choose to visit this beautiful island include touring the Moka mountains on horse-drawn carriages, swimming on the northern beaches, scuba diving on the west coast, speed boating, windsurfing, waterskiing, dolphin watching and hiking. The Blue Safari Submarine also offers a thoroughly enjoyable experience and provides a wonderful chance to take a close look at the many species of colourful tropical fish which live in and around the waters of the Mauritian coral reef.
The Mauritian climate consists solely of two seasons, which are winter and summer. The winters are warm and dry and last from May to November, whilst the summer months are typically hot and wet lasting from November until May. However, it is worth bearing in mind that tropical cyclones are a natural hazard when visiting the island and these usually occur from the end of December until the beginning of March.
