Shopping is a real experience with bargains galore on offer on everything imaginable at the famous traditional markets and shopping centres. One has to really barter with the traders, as this a customary practice in Marrakesh and will get whatever you have bought at around a third of the asking price.
Be warned that holidays Marrakesh is a predominantly Muslim city and is essential for visitors to opt for clothing that is not offensive and revealing, especially when visiting places that are of a religious status wear a long sleeve top or just wear a cardigan over your shoulders. Clothing like shorts and swimming costumes should be worn inside or on beaches. Should you smoke, it is custom to offer when in gatherings.
Marrakesh is relatively safe, but don't flash money around or carry large sums on your person. Do not carry valuables around and always lock up. These are just common sense tips. Also be aware of what food you are eating in restaurants as well as take away places as many dishes include goat head as well as local snails.
